Event to unveil the statue titled "The Pioneer," by sculptor Henry Lion, at Carthay Circle. Placed in a fountain, the statue represents 49er Daniel O. McCarthy. The statue was later moved to a nearby location in a triangle pocket park at the intersection of McCarthy Vista and San Vicente Boulevard.
