Description: Atlantic Richfield's refinery in Carson, second in capacity to Chevron's, turns out about 5 million gallons of gasoline a day, which is more than one-fourth of what Southern Californians consume. Steam pouring from Arco's refinery "helps the humidity in Southern California," quips manager Les Smith.
