Description
AFTER 75 YEARS--Comedian George Burns, who quit school in 1902 to sell newspapers, receives elementary school diploma from Mayor Bradley at a City Hall ceremony. The diploma had been forwarded to Bradley from New York, where school officials decided Burns had racked up enough "life" credits to qualify. Burns, 81, said:" Now I'll be able to go out and make something of myself."
