Description
DEFYING THE ONSLAUGHT--Youngsters throw sticks at waves dashing against rocks at Point Mugu State Park. A 5- to 8-foot surf pounded coast from Point conception to Mexican border--the result of Hurricane Dolores, which dissipated at 2 p.m. Monday 600 miles southwest of San Diego. Although many swimmers stayed out of water, L.A. County lifeguards reported 82 rescues.
