Description
Earthquake havoc--Edison employee surveys the damage at the Devers substation near Palm Springs. The quake knocked huge porcelain insulators off 10-foot perches, snapped steel cables and caused a 650,000-pound generator to "walk 10 inches." (Story, Page 3).
