OLD TRADITION--Roman Catholic Bishop John J. Ward, right, blesses young burro belonging to Frank Hauslik during Saturday's Blessing of Animals at Olvera Street. Tradition dates back to 356, when St. Anthony, patron saint of animal kingdom, first blessed animals for their fertility and health. A parade preceded blessing.
