Description
Additional text in the bottom right of the poster in French: “ Pour en parler Sida Info Service: 0800 840 800 (24h/24 anonyme, confidential et grantuit)”Text English: “To talk about it call AIDS Info Service: 0800 840 800 (24h/24 anonymous, confidential and free)” This poster is a collection of colored drawings in a comic book style. These pictures tell a story of a gay man who is looking for love. It resembles a situation comedy, for instance, the hero is watching TV and getting information on different subjects. The story is building up to a conviction that he could have unsafe sex, because in the news he is hearing that scientists have some drugs that improve the immune systems of people with AIDS. When he meets with his partner he ridicules him for trying to use condom; he declares "haven’t you seen the news on TV?" When he learns that his partner does not have TV, he tells him you are so uniformed, how do you get through life? Date on back of poster, 2005, reflects when the vendor received the copy later acquired by the UCLA Library. Poster held by Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library. History & Special Collections, Collection no. 306, item FR088.
