Former boxing world champion and now referee Max Baer stands between George Godfrey, "the black shadow of Leiperville" (left), and Hank Hankinson during a boxing match between the two men at Olympic Auditorium. Hankinson was the winner of the match after Godfrey threw in the towel in the 8th round. Godfrey's loss was attributed to his age
