Wright is accused of the murder of his wife, Evelyn, and best friend, John Kimmel. Wright confessed to shooting the pair in a fit of "white hot rage" after finding them in an embrace in his home. After the inquest, complaints were signed against Wright for the two deaths. A trial, called the "white flame" trial by the press, followed in which Wright was eventually let off on an insanity plea, thanks to his lawyer Jerry Giesler.
