The theme of the 49th Tourament of Roses Parade in 1938 was "Playland Fantasies" Long Beach's "Queen of Fantasy" float in a stagnig area on S. Orange Grove Blvd. before the parade. This was the Theme prize winner and featured the queen on a canopied throne drawn by three giant butterflies. Five maidens walked alongside the float.
