Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Joseph Ayeroff, former chairman of the Los Angeles County Young Democrats (i.e. the Young Democratic Club) and brother of East L.A. State Relief Administration director Samuel Ayeroff, at hearings for charges of Communist activity against several members of the L.A. County S.R.A. Joseph Ayeroff was accused of Communist activity by George Bertholon, former organizer of the Young Communist League. The hearings lasted only one day and ended with a recommendation that action be taken against some of the witnesses (including Ayeroff) for perjury, but no one was immediately fired.
