Dewey, campaigning to be President of the United States, with Earl Warren (vice presidential candidate) just to the right of him. Various notable African American activists, businesspersons, and journalists are present: L to R: Louis Cole (1st), Dr. H. A. Pearl (3rd, head half visible), Maude Brody (4th), William Nickerson (6th), B. B. Bratton (7th), Thomas Dewey (8th), Sydney Dones (9th), Earl Warren (10th), Norman O. Houston (13th, white tie and shirt shows), Lawrence LaMar (17th, at the end). The women in the light-colored dress might be Jessie Terry.
