Nicodemus Stewart was an African American character actor from vaudeville and radio, and later television. He was a cast member on The Amos 'n' Andy Show (playing a character called Lightnin, usually credited as Nick O'Demus), and supplied the voice of Bre'r Bear in the 1946 animated film Song of the South. In 1950, he and his wife Edna founded the Ebony Showcase Theatre in Los Angeles, which was located on Washington Boulevard near La Brea. He was born Horace Winfred Stewart in New York City in 1910, and died in Los Angeles in 2000.
