Text from original nitrate sleeve: US Army - Defense Week Maneuvers at Mines Field (2-11-40); Holden, F.H. -Lt.Col.; Smith, Lynn Davis -Capt.; Flag - 160th Infantry; Jorgensen, Arthur N. -160th Inf. Co.F on watch for air raids at rest time; Standard Machine Gun; Douglas 038 model plane; Co. F and M - 160th Infantry; Dress-old squad; new streamlined squad; Smoke screens. Handwritten annotation from nitrate negative: Old time squad on left - new stream lined squad on right. Right dress - old squad elbow - new squad arm.
