General view of the cemetery, bell cote (bell gable, campanario, espadaña) and chapel of San Antonio de Pala Asistencia. The Pala Mission was a sub-mission to Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, some twenty miles inland upstream from the mission on the San Luis Rey River. The cemetery, behind an eroding adobe wall, contains the remains of hundreds of Indian converts and early California settlers and was still in use as of 2005. Mountains are visible in the background.
