Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Upper photo: view of a wide dirt road on the face of a cliff in Santa Monica's Palisades Park, 1910-1920. The road is at center and leads from the top of the cliffs at left down to the beach at right. It is lined with a rustic eucalyptus branch fence and several large plants. A tall rock formation can be seen towards the bottom of the road at right. The beach is visible in the distance at center and right. Several tall mountains form a range in the background. Middle photo: view of the Santa Monica beach looking north from the Palisades Park, ca.1905. The beach is at left and is a long, wide, sandy expanse. In the foreground is a row of short plants with long, pointed leaves. The Palisades walk makes its way up the cliffs at right, and there are large mountains visible across the water at center.
