Same image as no. CHS-886 in the USC, Title Insurance and Trust / C.C. Pierce Photography Collection Photograph of cemetery and distant view of the Mission Santa Ysabel. The cemetery is surrounded by a picket fence in a state of disrepair. A large wooden cross marks one grave near the center of the image. Many other smaller crosses mark other graves. The mission building itself (toward the right) is made entirely of thatched sticks and branches. A cross stands in front of it. Santa Ysabel Asistencia, established in 1818 as a sub-station to Mission San Diego de Alcala, was located east of San Diego in the area north of the town of Santa Ysabel. The cemetery is all that remains of the original site, which included a chapel, granary, and several adobe houses. Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds.
