Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. The Giardini Botanici Hanbury (also known as La Mortola, or Hanbury Botanical Garden, or Villa Hanbury), on the cape of Mortola, are major botanical gardens operated by the University of Genoa. The gardens were founded by Sir Thomas Hanbury, a British entrepreneur, after he had made his fortune in China. Two views of Banksia Rose, also called Lady Banks' Rose, growing in La Mortola botanical garden. The villa is visible in the photograph on the right.
