Text from nitrate negative sleeve: Santa Monica, Main St., new widening, 1930. Greater Main Street, Mr. Applehoff, Ocean Park Handwritten on edge of nitrate negative: 1356 Birdseye view down Main Street during construction to widen the street. The street is vacant of pedestrians and cars and there are five pedestrians on the sidewalks. There are three vacant lots where the buildings were demolished along the left side of the street. Signs on buildings on the right read: "U.S. Shoe Renewing Co., Carlson & Sons...," "New & Used Clothing, Cleaning, Pressing," Kolb's Grocery Delicatessen," The Minnesota Apts., Rooms, 1, 2, & 3 rooms, furnished 2925," "Crescent Apts, Rooms By Day, Week or Month," "Main Bargain," "Hardware," "Hawley...sewing machine..."
