The log cabin stood in Pioneer Park, San Bernardino, in the block bordered by 5th, 6th, E, and F Streets. The San Bernardino Society for California Pioneers merged with the San Bernardino Historical Society in 1977 to form the San Bernardino Historical and Pioneer Society. Text from nitrate negative sleeve: 2002 - 2003 - 2004 - 2005 2006 - 2007 - 2008 - 2009 San Bernardino Pioneers, Pioneers at their headquarters, 1926, 1928, Prints & Negs, Donkey missing Text reads: Adelbert Bartlett, 535 15th Street, Santa Monica, Cal. 249R1964. The Pioneer's Society of San Bernardino County, California, maintains a log club house in which primitive utensils of the covered wagon days are still used in preparing food for the regular monthly socials which include speech-making and old-time square dances and minuets as well as modern fox-trots not to mention the grand finale of supper with fried chicken, cake and trimmings. In the picture is shown Mrs. Laura Case Clark, descendent of pioneers, tending a fire in the open grate in which an iron pot of water is being urged to boil for the coffee-making, while at her feet stands the iron "Dutch Oven" which contains bread baking from the heat of the blaze. An old-fashioned churn stands beside Mrs. Clark. At the right side of the fireplace are to be found a tallow candle dip, a bellows for blowing fires, an ax and a gold pan, utensils which were brought West in covered wagons 75 years ago. Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds.
