A very similar photograph of Dr. Franklyn Thorpe in court appears with the caption, "Wins Freedom Dr. Franklyn Thorpe in court, being divorced from Mary Astor," Los Angeles Times, 13 Apr. 1935: A3 This negative appears to have been scanned from the wrong side. Dr. Franklyn Thorpe sits on the witness stand at center. He dons a light-colored suit with a striped tie. Dr. Thorpe leans slightly forward while resting his forearms on the witness stand's railing. He tilts his head down and to the right and gazes to the left. To his left, the judge's bench sits empty. From left to right, the State Flag of California and the American Flag stand along the back wall behind Dr. Thorpe.
