Police search for the person who sent a grenade wrapped as a Christmas present to the home of Ernest M. Torchia at the home of he and his daughter Emily in Casa Verdugo. Torchia has sustained possibly fatal injuries.

Text from newspaper caption: Attorney and Daughter Injured in Glendale Tragedy Above (left,) Ernest M. Torchia, attorney, whose body was torn and shattered as the result of a bomb explosion in his home yesterday morning. The bomb was sent through the mail, wrapped as a Christmas package. Above (right,) Emily Torchia, daughter of the attorney, in the room at the time of the explosion. She is shown being escorted to the hospital yesterday afternoon. Below, Chief of Police Fraser of Glendale examining contents of the room in which the explosion occurred.
