A different photograph of the same event appears with the article, "GIANT AIRLINER IN DEBUT: City of Los Angeles Dashes to Bay City on First Run After Christening Ceremonies," Los Angeles Times, 27 Nov. 1933: A1
A photograph of Barbara Douglas christening the same aircraft appears with the caption, "Daughter of Ship's Builder Dedicating It Barbara Dean [sic] Douglas, 9-year-old daughter of Donald Douglas, builder of ship, christening City of Los Angeles at public dedication ceremonies yesterday at Grand Central air terminal," Los Angeles Times, 27 Nov. 1933: A2
A large crowd of people attends the dedication of the TWA aircraft, City of Los Angeles, at Glendale's Grand Central Air Terminal. The camera views them from a slightly elevated perspective. The crowd spans the width of the bottom edge and stretches back into the distance at center and right. In the near distance, the City of Los Angeles, sits in partial view, entering frame from the left and facing right. The plane is viewed from the side with its nose angling upward. Text printed on the nose of the plane reads, "TWA U.S.MAIL A.M.34." Some of the crowd stands beneath the front of the plane. In the near distance at right, an elevated platform sits above the crowd and beneath the nose of the plane. Men in suits mill about the platform. Beyond the aircraft, the airport's runway extends into the distance at center.
