Dr. Felix Janovsky, Czechoslovakia consul in Los Angeles, pins the Order of the White Lion on William May Garland, president of the 1932 Olympiad in Los Angeles. Standing next to Garland is Dr. Madilene Veverka (aka Madeline), who was head supervisor of Los Angeles city schools, kindergarten and primary grades. The Order of the White Lion was an award of merit by Czechoslovakia for foreign citizens.
