Related to Los Angeles Times article, "Election Plot Charge Shifted; Otto, Kely Figure in Repated [sic] Bribe Deal, Summoned; Chesebro, Haight and Kemp Also Called by Jury; Fitts Traces Asserted Steps Taken Against Werner." 4 May, 1933: A1. On the right, Raymond L. Haight, chairman of the election campaign for newly elected Los Angeles City Attorney Raymond L. Chesebro, stands with Chesebro, center, and attorney Olin Wellborn III, left, at the Los Angeles Grand Jury. The three men were called to testify before the Grand Jury about allegations that they were involved in a plot to bribe a Grand Jury member into filling false charges against recently ousted City Attorney Erwin P. Werner during the election for city attorney. The charges were never filed. Werner lost the election to Chesebro. Neither Chesebro nor Willborn were indicted as a result of the investigation. Haight was indicted on charges of bribery but a judge later dismissed the charges against him for lack of evidence. Chesebro went on to serve five terms as city attorney. Handwritten on negative: R. Haight, Ray Chesebro, Olin Wellborne [sic] III Text from negative sleeve: Wellborne [sic], Olin III, 1933
