German track star Otto Peltzer works out at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum after gaining permission from the German sports federation to run in three races while visited the United States. Peltzer, the world record holder at the 880 at the time, was particularly interested in running on the Coliseum track, which he praised as a fast track. Two months after this photograph was taken he ran against local racers and set a new Southern California record. . During World War II, Peltzer was imprisoned by the Germans because was gay. One of these will be in Los Angeles and Peltzer probably will have as opponents in the half mile Nick Carter, Hank Lunney and Percy Neirabach.
