Next to George Allan Hancock, his daughter Rosemary Genevieve Hancock Zeiser and granddaughter Patricia Anne Zeiser at the launch of his yacht, Velero III.
George Allan Hancock was a Los Angeles oil man and millionaire. He commissioned several large yachts to be built for various scientific expeditions along the west coast. He captained these expeditions as well. Several institutions and parks are named after Hancock including, Hancock Park in Los Angeles, Hancock Institute for Marine Studies at USC, and the Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria.
