Jean Jarvis was an actress and dancer in the Los Angeles area who passed away in 1933 from illness.
Although the photograph was taken in 1928 in the aftermath of an assault case, it was actually published in 1933 following Jean Jarvis's death. Appears in the article: "Death Hits Two Blows At Family," Los Angeles Times, 18 Mar. 1933: A1.
