The lion costume is held up by two men. Smoke rises from several firecrackers strewn on the ground. Behind the lion a group of men watch, two other men standing in front of the lion, mostly obscured by the smoke. Photograph appears with the article, "Bing, Zing, Boom! Text from negative sleeve: LOS ANGELES CHINATOWN, CELEBRATIONS, NEW YEAR 1928 Handwritten on negative: CHINESE, LYON. 1928 Text from newspaper caption: Yesterday Was Bad Day For Invisible Devils "Happy New Year!" being said Chinese style down on Apablasa street in Chinatown. The lion doing his annual dance, bringing good luck for the new year and driving any stray devils from the doorstep mid the smoke of booming firecrackers.
