This photograph is related to the event described in the article, “Public Police Inspection Set for This Year,” Los Angeles Times, 27 Apr. 1927: A11 Viewed from above, police officers stand in formation on the field of Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in the near distance at center. They stand in several rows that face towards the right and stretch back to the right. All men appear to salute. Nearer to the camera and to the left of the rows of officers, a small marching band stands at the edge of the field. A dirt track lines the perimeter of the field. It passes along the bottom edge and stretches up the right edge of the image. At the far end of the field, vehicles line the curve of the track. The Coliseum's seats stretch across the background at left and its arched entrance rises at right. Text from negative sleeve: LOS ANGELES, POLICE DEPT, INSPECTION, 1927 Handwritten on negative: Police Inspection - Coliseum - 5-[2]-27
