This photograph is related to the event described in the article, “Public Police Inspection Set for This Year,” Los Angeles Times, 27 Apr. 1927: A11 Chief James E. Davis stands in the near distance at center, on the Coliseum's field. He faces towards the left as he reaches out to inspect the firearm of a police officer. The officer under inspection stands at the front of the row, facing right and holding his firearm in front of him. A line of officers extends directly behind him. Their shadows cast towards the right. Behind the row that stretches back at center, another line of police officers stands behind them at left. They all hold up their firearms for inspection. In the foreground and along the right edge, two officers stand with their backs to the camera. The stadium's seating lines the background. Text from negative sleeve: LOS ANGELES, POLICE DEPT, INSPECTION, 1927 Handwritten on negative: Chief Davis inspecting police at Coliseum
