Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. The State brought out asserted evidence that Mrs. Wiseman, a key witness in the McPherson case, worked up the Miss X hoax with Aimee Semple McPherson and her mother Minnie Kennedy. Lorraine sits on the witness stand looking off to her right. There are several other men in the courtroom with her, their faces and or bodies blurred from overexposure. The judge's face is also blurred; the American flag is positioned behind him. Similar photograph appears with the article, "Plot Charge Hurled in Court by Mrs. Wiseman," Los Angeles Times, 12 Oct 1926: A1. Text from negative sleeve: MCPHERSON, AIMEE SEMPLE PRELIMINARY HEARING Handwritten on negative: #7
