Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Report of the arrest of the Captain of Detectives, Herman Cline. He was arrested for a hit and run while drunk which resulted in the death of a woman and child. Cline was involved in spearheading the case against Aimee Semple McPherson that charged her with faking her own kidnapping previously to this horrific event. Cline tried to outrun police after striking the car, but to no avail and was arrested in Azusa. Some text from the report: "Herman Cline, Captain of Detectives, arrested as 'hit and run' autoist, by special correspondent. Late Sunday night while driving near north Pomona, California, Herman Cline, captain of Detectives of Los Angeles police force struck an automobile containing a woman and child.
