Aimee Semple McPherson was under investigation for faking her own kidnapping.
Letter form Kenneth Ormiston under his cover name of George McIntire talking about why he has to leave the Carmel property. Ormiston was suspected of taking a romantic getaway with Aimee Semple McPherson who was under suspicion of denying it and faking her own kidnapping. The letterhead is from New York but it remains clear if he was ever at the hotel.
From the letter: "Gentlemen:- I regret that we were obliged to leave for the east so early on receipt of the news concerning illness of my wife's mother, without having seen you or Mr. Benedict to explain the circumstances.--The Condition of Mrs. McIntire's mother is such that it will be impossible for us to return this summer..."
