Spectators watch as these four men pose for a photograph standing at a banquet table.
Rear-Admiral McNamee was a businessman and in the navy. Vice-Admiral Leigh was commander of the battle force and was replaced by Luke McNamee. (Admiral Leigh became commander in chief of the United States fleet). Admiral Hyakutake later in life was forced into early retirement in 1942 for his opposition to going to war with the United States. He lived out the rest of his days as a teacher and then a farmer.
