Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. C. C. Pyle was promoting the "Bunion Derby" a 3400 mile transcontinental run from the Ascot Speedway in Los Angeles to Yankee Stadium in New York. Football player Harold "Red" Grange (left), and his manager Charles C. Pyle. Grange wears a double breasted suit and soft floppy cap. He seems to be checking his watch. Pyle wears a three piece suit and carries his coat and brimmed hat in his left hand. He is looking intently at Grange. Two unidentified men are in the background. They are in the Los Angeles Coliseum. Red Grange was famous for playing for the Chicago Bears (at the time of this photograph though, he was playing for the New York Yankees football team).
