Johnh?] [Stamped:] Dec 23 1938 Text from newspaper caption: Fellow Fire-Fighters Rush to Aid of Dying Fireman As He Falls From Ladder Top at Industrial Fire. Death came to Bert F. Hancock, 36-year-old fireman, in a strange way yesterday. He went with County Engine Company No. 9 on his day off to help fight a fire in the Western Candy Box factory on East Sixty-Third street. While helping lead a hose to top of forty-foot ladder sudden pressure of water toppled him to the ground. He died on the way to the hospital.
