View facing S-SW towards from E. De. La Guerra St towards La Placita building, a Spanish colonial style commercial building with a wooden balcony, terracotta tile roof, arched windows and an exterior staircase. A painted sign above a doorway reads: "The Nielson-Smith Electric Co." The postal address of the building is 740 State St.
La Placita Building, built after the 1925 earthquake to replace the destroyed McKay Building, is located in El Pueblo Viejo Landmark District. It is on the California Inventory of Historic Resources.
