Briggs (R), past and present postmasters of Los Angeles, shaking hands on Briggs' first day in office P. P. O'Brien was the Postmaster of Los Angeles from July 1921 to February 1, 1934. Prior to that he had been president of the Los Angeles Board of Public Works. Henry B. R. Briggs was the Postmaster of Los Angeles from February 1, 1934 to his death (from pneumonia) on September 28, 1936. Prior to that, he was the publisher and editor of the Los Angeles Record.
