The Boys' Week Loyalty Day parade is reported in the article, "Young Manhood Proudly Flaunts Its Banner; Youth Holds Sway In City, Monster Parade of Los Angeles Boys Ushers in Week Dedicated to Future Citizens," Los Angeles Times, May 2, 1926. "Boys' Week" was first held in New York City in 1920. By the mid 1920's it was held in 600 locations in 25 countries. By 1928 there were 3,000 events. In 1934 Boys’ Week officially be-came known as Youth Week. In 1936 it was renamed Boys’ and Girls’ Week. One of the features of Boys' Week was to have High School boys accompany adults around businesses, municipal offices and the like and then actually run them on the last day.
