Undaunted by the fire that happened on a Friday, members of the church raised a large tent beside the ruins to conduct regular service the following Sunday. At the extreme right are charred remains of the chapel, on the roof of which the fire is believed to have started, supposedly by sparks blown by the wind from a burning garage nearby. Three alarms were sounded, to which twelve pieces of fire-fighting apparatus responded, from seven companies. Three firemen were slightly injured. The loss was estimated at $100,000.
