Daniel wears a sombrero as he pushes Raymundo in the carriage, who plays with a toy and wears a very large straw hat.
When 10-month-old Daniel starts to cry in the afternoon heat his father puts the boy's hat on and takes him on a walk around the sidewalk.

Text from newspaper caption: The little man in the big hat is Raymundo Elizondo, who wears only his headgear and other scant raiment in the summertime on Olvera street. His father, Daniel, is taking him for an afternoon stroll.
