Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. John P. Deering was a lawyer from Maine, and ran for governor several times. Bruce W. Sanborn was a lawyer from St. Paul, Minnesota. This photograph was possibly taken during the American Bar Association's annual convention, held at the Biltmore and Philharmonic Auditorium, July 16-19, 1935. John P. Deering (left) and Bruce W. Sanborn are seated next to each other at a table. Behind them are unidentified men with states' names on signs. Deering sits with his body forward, arms resting on the table in front of him, head turned towards Sanborn. Sanborn is turned facing Deering, left arm resting on the table, right arm on the back of Deering's chair. Notepads, a pen, and a plate are on the table in front of them.
