Florence Suddarth, secretary to an airline president, claimed that Royal Leonard, aviator was the father of her 7 month old daughter, Royale Regina, and brought a suit against him asking for child support of $150/month. Leonard was judged the father of her child, and ordered to pay $50/month. Related to several news stories regarding the paternity suit in the Los Angeles Times, dated August 3-September 14, 1935. Judge's name incorrect on negative and negative sleeve: correct name is Judge Bowron. Judge Fletcher Bowron is seated, facing Royal Leonard, who sits in the witness stand. An unidentified man sits at a table in front of Leonard, writing, possibly the stenographer. Florence Suddarth's back can be seen at the front of the picture, and a pitcher of water sits on the table in front of her. A California state flag is behind Leonard, and the American flag is to the left of the judge. Text from negative sleeve: 1430. Royal Leonard. Leonard--Suddarth baby case.
