Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Vivian Cammack displays a diamond ring on her finger that belonged to Mrs. Ates, wife of film comedian. The ring was being auctioned off and sold by the Sheriff's Department in order to pay a debt owed by Mrs. Ates and her daughter to Hollyvogue Cleaners. A similar image appears with the article, "Sheriff Puts Gem on Block. Mrs. Ates's Jewel Sold by Sheriff," Los Angeles Times, 8 Aug. 1935: A8. Handwritten on negative: Vivian Cammack. 8-7-35. Text from negative sleeve: 1465- Aug. 8, 1935. Vivian Cammack. Ates. Ates Ring Sold. 8-7-35.
