Mrs. Robert Ladd Gifford is Annah Evelyn Brooks Gifford.
Evelyn Brooks Gifford was known for her charity work with children and animals, and for a while, had a meal kitchen for unemployed women. She was the president of the State Commission for Protection of Children and Animals, and before coming to Los Angeles was involved in the Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago.
