Gladys Hamilton and John Carl Whiteley were witnesses to Busby Berkeley's driving that resulted in a car crash that killed three people and badly injured three others. Berkeley was on trial for murder for the third time (the first two juries deadlocked). They testified that he was speeding and drove them off the road. Gladys Belle Hamilton and John Carl Whitely were married by the 1940 census. She became Gladys B. Whiteley. Related to "Berkeley's Speed Told: Further Crash Details Given," Los Angeles Times, 10 Apr 1936: A1. John C. Whiteley (left) and Gladys Hamilton stand before a diagram of Busby Berkeley's automobile accident. The diagram has three cars drawn on it as rectangles and distances marked out. Hamilton is pointing at the diagram with her right hand. She is wearing a hat and plaid coat with large buttons over a sweater and collared shirt. Whiteley is wearing a three piece suit.
