Major-General Malone was commander of the Ninth Corps Area. Frank Belcher was president of the California Pacific International Exposition. Mr. and Mrs. Belcher hosted a dinner at Hotel del Coronado for notable individuals, including Major-General Malone and his wife, as reported in Los Angeles Times article, "Many Prominent Exposition From All Parts of Nation at Coronado: San Diego Fair's President Gives Dinner for Noted Folk," 9/18/1935.
