Rabbi Farber was dean of the Lithuanian Theological Seminary in Kaunas, Lithuania. He visited the United States for six months to interest members of his faith in rebuilding the seminary. Rabbi Kohler, of Brooklyn, served as Rabbi Farber's interpreter and secretary.
