Text from negative sleeve: 2493 - Margaret Sherlock Helen Gleason Marie Gore Helen Smith Peggy Haggery With the American Flag. 10-5-35 [stamped:] Oct 22 1935
Handwritten on negative: L to R - Margaret Sherlock - Helen Gleason Marie Gore - Helen Smith - Peggy Haggerty - 10-5-35
Text from newspaper caption: Margaret Sherlock, Helen Gleason, Marie Gore, Helen Smith and Peggy Haggerty, left to right, show the proper position of the flag when hung horizontally. The field of stars must be upper left to the person facing the flag. This conforms to the old tradition that the field always covers the heart. Those in the picture are from Yeomanette Post No. 487, composed of feminine naval veterans of the World War. There were several thousand yeomanettes in the naval service.
